Terms and Conditions

Deposit & Final Payment:

  • 25% deposit payable upon booking, non-refundable.  Payment of deposit constitutes acceptance of terms.
  • Final payment due 14 days before start of stay.  

Cancellations:

  • Cancellation greater than 7 days before stay:  loss of deposit.
  • Cancellation within 7 days of stay:  full loss of deposit and final payment.
  • Change of date acceptable if same or greater number of booked nights, subject to availability.

Number of Guests:

  • Fins is available for a maximum of 12 people only. 
  • The facilities of the house, in particular the septic and toilet system, are designed to handle up to a maximum of 12 people.  

Check-In & Check-Out:

  • Check-In from 2pm
  • Check-Out at 10am
  • Please leave the house in a clean and tidy condition, as found upon arrival.  
  • Leave fridges and freezers on, turn off lights and fans and close and lock doors and windows. 
  • Return Keys to the shop at the Fraser Island Retreat.  
  • Dispose of all rubbish to the rubbish transfer station on the outskirts of Happy Valley on the Moon Point Road heading west (opposite the Rotary Shelter Shed).
  • Failure to follow these instructions may result in additional charges and/or will affect future bookings.

Linen:

  • Blankets and pillows are provided, however you are required to bring your own linen: sheets, pillowcases and towels.
  • Sleeping bags and swags not permitted. 
  • You may be able to hire linen from the Fraser Island Retreat but please ensure you have organised this well in advance of your stay.

Rubbish:

  • There is no garbage service to houses on Fraser Island 
  • Dispose of your household rubbish regularly, and upon departure. There is a rubbish transfer station on the outskirts of Happy Valley on the Moon Point Road heading west (opposite the Rotary Shelter Shed).

Septic System:

  • Fins relies on a septic system for toilet and waste water.
  • You must not flush nappies, personal hygiene items or any other unsuitable items down the toilets. This will cause a blockage in the drains, which you would find very inconvenient, as well as being very unpleasant.
  • Do not pour cooking oils or fats down the sinks.

Solar System:

  • Fins runs a solar system with back-up generator; there is no mains electricity supply.
  • This unfortunately means you cannot use any electrical appliances with a heating element, including but not limited to electric frypans, hairdryers, toasters and portable fridges.
  • If the system becomes overloaded the supply can fail, and you may incur a charge for resetting of the system. 
  • Please ask the owner or manager if you have any questions regarding the use of additional plug-in appliances.
  • It is recommended you use the washing machine and vacuum cleaner in mornings on sunny days to allow time for the solar-powered batteries to recharge.

Car Parking:

  • There are two spots for parking in front of the garage for your use.
  • Please do not park on the grass in front of the house.

Fish Cleaning:

  • Please use the fish cleaning facility in the back yard, and please keep the facility clean.

Noise:

  • Happy Valley is a family-friendly village and therefore please be considerate and do not cause any nuisance, noise or disturbance which may interfere with the enjoyment of persons in neighbouring premises.

Subletting:

  • No subletting or licencing.

Insurance & Damage:

  • Tenants are responsible for insuring their own property. No responsibility whatsoever is taken for the property of tenants or their guests in the house or yards.
  • Damage, breakages, and losses to/of the building, its furniture, fittings and contents, are the responsibility of the tenant during occupancy. Please report any losses, damage or breakages.

Alterations by Owner:

  • The owner will make every effort to ensure the property is available as booked, however due to the remote location of the property the owner reserves the right to make alterations to bookings due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Failure to Follow Terms:

  • All of the above terms are in place to ensure you and future tenants can enjoy Fins.
  • Fraser does not have speedy access to trades so the motto here is to prevent rather than fix problems.
  • The on-site managers have the right to inspect and ensure compliance with the above terms.  Failure to follow these terms can result in eviction with no refund.
